So, I have to say that the reason I haven't been keeping up with this blog is because I broke my computer. :( So very sad...so now I have to wait until I get a computer. But, our wonderful friends, Brandon and Molly have let us borrow their computer until they get back to Idaho (they get to stay in Maryland for a semester...lucky!) so we won't have to buy another computer for a little while...phew!
But now I have to tell you about our wonderful holidays! We were supposed to fly out to Maryland on the 19th this month but because Maryland decided to have a huge blizzard that day (what's up with that? Maryland barely ever gets snow!!) our flight was canceled and we had to wait until Monday the 21st to fly out. Luckily, our wonderful brother-in-law was still home and let us stay with him until we could leave. So, we flew home...David was absolutely wonderful on the plane, and we are probably jinxing him for the flight back, but he was wonderful! We had a wonderful Christmas with all of our family members and they absolutely LOVE David...but then again who couldn't?! lol We're bias! Now, we think he might be teething...we are most definitely going to miss his toothless smile, so he's not too happy right now. Plus, he fell off of a bed last night so he's got a bump on his head. That scared me to death...I took him upstairs to put him down for a nap and when he fell asleep, I piled pillows all around him stupidly thinking he would be okay...then I went back downstairs with my family. About 10 minutes later we hear a big crashing noise from upstairs, Brandon was the first one upstairs and sure enough David was on the floor screaming! He had the biggest red bump on his head, but after we calmed him down he seemed to be okay. It still made me feel terrible...but then my mom told me stories about all of us hitting our heads and Brandon's mom told me about all of her kids hitting their heads and so I decided that it was just something little kids just have to do. They have to scare their parents some how!
So that has been our eventful holiday...we are still waiting to see what will happen on New Year's Eve and Day! Oh, and there has been a lot more things happening but I really don't want to be here all night! Maybe I'll write a little more later...

So Tired!
Lately, David had been doing a wonderful job of sleeping through the night. He woke up periodically, but all I had to do was put the pacifier back into his mouth and he would go right back to sleep. It was wonderful! But I guess I was bragging a little too much about it because now he refuses to go to sleep even though he so totally tired. He fuses and cries, and he can't get comfortable in our arms but absolutely hates to be put down. I know I should just let him cry himself to sleep...but that boy can cry! I have yet to see him cry himself to sleep. There was one night he cried for about 45 minutes and he sounded like he could have gone on a whole lot longer. And last night, he woke up like 4 times. Of course, Brandon doesn't hear him crying so I'm the one who has to comfort him. So I'm pretty tired today...and I get cranky when I'm tired...ask Brandon. I just wish I knew what to do for him...what he wanted...so we both could get the sleep we need (although David gets to take naps during the day...while I have things to do). I don't know what to do!
And it's snowing today...of course. I'm actually kind of excited to have our first real big snow storm just because we are in a new place. However, we still have yet to get Brandon new tires for his car...and his car is the only one he can take on campus because it's the only one that has a permit. So now I'm going to worry about him driving...I hate worrying because my mind decides to think up the worst case scenarios. But like all couples starting a family, we don't have the money to get him new ones. I am slightly comforted to know that Brandon is a good driver...a confident driver who doesn't really care that it's snowing (I start freaking out if it's flurrying), but what about all those other people on the road who aren't such good drivers? Oh, I just pray that he will be okay.

Thanksgiving Nerves
The other day I was grocery shopping and on my list was a bunch of food for a Thanksgiving meal. We decided to have Thanksgiving as our little family and not travel anywhere or visit anyone. Kind of like a new tradition...we shall see anyways. So as I'm shopping for the turkey and everything else, it hits me that I'm the one who will be cooking all the food this year. I have never cooked a Thanksgiving meal in my whole entire life! I didn't even really cook until we got married...granted, Brandon says he likes my cooking, so I wasn't really worried before. But now, I've never cooked a turkey before...I don't even know where to start...and all the other things that go with a Thanksgiving meal...how am I supposed to cook all of those things? Ahhh! I am slightly freaking out! :) So, all this week I am going to be making a plan...a plan of what I am going to cook, how long each one has to cook, and when I need to start cooking everything in order to have a hot meal on the table by dinner time! I think that should help! Plus, we aren't having a full blown turkey...what's the point with just two people eating? We just decided to have a turkey breast instead...so I feel slightly better about that...but only slightly. Well, we shall see how everything goes. Even if I burn everything, I know that Brandon will still eat it...I know he will tell me it stinks (he's just that way) , but he will still eat it because he's just that way! And I love him for that! Well...wish me luck!

Stupid Internet!
Last week, our power went out for like a couple of minutes but since then our internet hasn't really worked the way it's supposed to. Brandon will come home from class and have to fix it and get it working again and then the very next day it will be down. It has been a real pain...and Brandon's getting pretty frustrated...so while it's working I figured I might as well enjoy it while it last!
Not much to report...David is growing fast! He is now rolling all over like a pro...which is fun to watch but a pain when I'm trying to change or put clothes on him. Brandon is acing all of his classes and just got a 105% on one of his tests...and he didn't even study!! He doesn't know how lucky he is!! To get that grade, I have to study my butt off!! :) I've registered for 2 classes next semester...so I'm really excited to get back to school and finally finish, but I'm worried about leaving David. I have to find someone to babysit him on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I know he'll be alright, but I still worry.

Our Little Lion
For Halloween Brandon and I decided we wanted to do a little play on words...so we decided to have David be a lion...we thought it was fitting with our last name and all! He was so cute! We also let him suck on a twizzler and boy did he like that! We didn't actually let him eat it...whenever a piece broke off we would throw it away, so he didn't have too big of a sugar high! :)
Tonight, our friends, Tyler and Courtney, let us borrow their jumperoo for David to use since he just wants to bounce now-a-days (Mommy and Daddy don't have the arm strength to let him bounce for too long). He absolutely loved it!!! He just kept bouncing and bouncing...even when he was tired. He wanted to be in it for as long as possible that we have a video of him falling asleep and then waking himself up because his legs would start bouncing! It was HILARIOUS!!! We're thinking about sending it in to Funniest Home Videoes! And even if we don't, it will definitely be a charished video for the rest of our lives!
He had his 6 month old check up yesterday at the doctors, and he had to get 3 shots. :( It's so hard watching the nurses stick him and then having him cry...but you know it is what's best. But other than that, we have a very healthy baby on our hands! YAY! He was 18 lbs (58 percentile) and 27 1/4 inches long (76 percentile). His head circumference is 17.3 inches (50 percentile)...so he is just growing, growing, growing! We love it!!

My little piggy!
So David is just like his father...both of them eat and eat...I don't know how much David weighs (I'll know on November 2nd) but it'll probably be a lot because lately he's been eating 10 oz of formula and he eats solid food twice a day. I probably should move him up to three times a day but then he'll really be a piggy! He's so cute though with his chubby arms and legs! Ahh...gotta love him!!

David Did It!!!
David finally did it!! He finally rolled over!!! I'm so proud of him...I don't think I've ever been more proud in my whole entire life!!! He rolled from his stomach to his back, and I was so excited I rolled him back over to see if he would do it again and he did! I'm not quite sure he has everything down just yet, but it won't be very long now before he's rolling all over the place! Ahhh...I'm just so proud of him...I just can't express how much I am!!!! YAY DAVID!!!!! :)

Family Pictures
YAY!!! We finally got our family pictures taken and the weather held up just for us...well, not really. It was still pretty cold but at least it wasn't snowing! I think we got some good shots in so we'll have to see when we get them back...don't worry, I will definitely post some of the pictures on here!

Ahh...The Joys of Idaho Weather
So...it has officially snowed! Last Wednesday there was a little flurries in the morning but nothing stuck. But, this morning we woke up to about an inch of snow and poor Brandon had to clean off the car in order to go to school. :( Then it continued to snow until like 2 in the afternoon. I think our family pictures are going to have to be in the snow...yuck!

News about us...
So...I have decided to take over the blog from Brandon because he has too much work to do with school and all he would write about his computer stuff...and who cares about computer stuff (besides other computer people)? So yeah...hopefully I will do a little better keeping up with new posts and everything so you all will know everything that is going on with our lives.
First up...I hate Idaho weather!!! :) I just can't say it enough! This last Friday, we were planning on having our family pictures done outside (because it's much prettier than inside), but on Wednesday the temperature decided to drop like 20 degrees! We still tried though, but after like 30 minutes David was freezing and not happy so we decided to call it a day and rescheduled for this Tuesday...we'll see. I think family pictures are important because it shows a record of that time in our lives. Besides, we have all these pictures of David and barely any of Brandon and I, so I'm sure people are going to wonder whose child he really is!
Now news of David...he isn't rolling over just yet but I'm sure it will be soon. He's got everything down, he just needs that extra little inch to push himself over. He is still talking and he laughs a lot more now. He's definitely a Mamma's boy, which I absolutely love!! But he loves when Daddy plays with him too!
Well, about us...Brandon is in school and doing awesome! He just got a 95 and 97 on two tests...he really thinks he can do really well this semester, so I'm holding him to it. I don't do much...just take care 0f David and clean the house, and when David is sleeping, I read books. I really love being a mom!!

OO at the OS level
Object-oriented programming is all the rage these days, but we are still stuck with a procedural way of interacting with the operating system. Why? First of all what is the difference between OOP and procedural? Procedural defines an algorithm that data will follow. If the data does not work for that algorithm, the algorithm needs to be changed. OOP on the other hand defines code and data together. The algorithm is designed to go with the data, and a nice neat package is presented to manipulate. So how are we interacting with an operating system in a procedural way and how could it be object oriented? Well currently we have jpegs, mp3s, docs, and txts that all need a specific program to deal with them. Oh, what you don't have a pdf viewer? You can't open that pdf. Too bad, so sad. What I propose is to have the methods for dealing with data embeded in the files. What you want to work with that type of data? Call the 'open' command for it. Edit, well call the edit command. (Now of course these would be menues or work by clicking.) Ok problems with this idea...
Security, security, security... Who decides what code goes with what data? How do I know a pdf is not installing a trojan? Well, I suppose we can put limits on what an open command does. Shouldn't do much more than load to memory. Anything more than that and it gets the ax. We can also incorporate digital signatures to make sure the Adobe format was infact created by Adobe.
Then there is multiple copies of code... First idea is who cares? I have terabytes of storage, but yeah, no good. This one will need a trick to work.

New apt and lost stuff
Today marks the second day of searching for a white board we purchased on Wednesday. We bought it, (along with a few other things) came home and watched a movie then went to bed. Yesterday, after I got home from work, I wanted to put it up, but couldn't find it! We have looked everywhere! It cannot be found. I kind of remember placing it behind a door or something to protect it, but I have no idea... oh well, maybe we left it at walmart
